Sunday
School

First Presbyterian Church offers Sunday School classes for all
ages (check out the programs for youth and
for adults) at 9:15 a.m. on Sunday mornings
(9:00 a.m. in the summer). Consult the bulletin board just inside
the WEST doorway on E. Market Street or the BACK doorway to the
parking lot to review information about ages and locations.
Nursery
Our caring and competent nursery staff are eager to serve you and
your child. The nursery is on the first floor. Vibration pagers
are available to notify you should your child have a need.
To find out if there is a nursery for an event you would like to
attend, call the church office.
On Sundays children ages newborn - 2 will enjoy play time with
loving, caring and nurturing adults beginning at 9:15. We ask
that you bring a labeled diaper bag whish has diapers and wipes
inside.
Preschool / Pre-Kindergarten
A host of fantastic teachers will be teaching the preschoolers
about God's love using the Gospel Light - Movers and Shakers
curriculum. This class meets in the Noah's Ark room on the
first floor.
Grades Kindergarten - 4th Grade
Grades Kindergarten - Grade 4 will be doing the Rotational Model
again this year. Topics such as The Prodigal Son, Jonah and
Noah as well as many others will be covered throughout the year.
Grades 3 and 4 will be doing a separate curriculum once a month
called "Learning to Use My Bible." This study will give them
the basics so that they can more effectively read the Bible on their
own. For the other three weeks of the month, this age group
will be included in the Rotational Model Activities.
Fifth Graders
Something new is happening for all the 5th graders during the
Sunday School hour. Starting this year, the 5th graders will
be included in the Junior High Sunday School classes ONLY.
They will not be allowed to attend Youth Group meetings yet,
due to their age and the content of the discussions at the Youth
Group meetings. Read the Junior High Sunday School
part to see what will be taught.
Worship
Children are encouraged to attend worship with their families.
In consideration of all who worship at First Presbyterian Church,
the Worship Committee requests that children sit
with parent, guardian or another adult during the service.
- Children 3 to 5 years old are invited to sit in the right front
of the sanctuary with one of our caring and responsible teachers.
After the children's sermon, they will go downstairs to Room
100.
- After the children's sermon, children in grades 1 - 4 leave
the sanctuary with their teachers and and go to Room 302 (upstairs)
where they participate in music, prayer, Bible stories, and other
activities that prepare them for congregational worship.
Children's bulletins are available in the basket on the
table outside
the sanctuary, and a lively children's sermon is part of the
service every Sunday. Summer's Best Two Weeks
Summer's Best Two Weeks is a sports camp committed to showing children
the love of Jesus and teaching them to live in a competitive world
without being controlled by it. Children from the church and the
neighborhood come together to play sports and learn from counselors
and staff how Jesus can transform their lives.
