Visitor Information

Welcome one another, therefore, as Christ has welcomed you, for the glory of God. Romans 15...

We hope you will visit us very soon! Here are a few things you need to know. Call the church office if you have additional questions.

Worship Services

Sunday morning worship is at 10:45 a.m. during the school year (10:00 am in the summer).

Other Sunday morning opportunities:

  • Consider coming at 9:15 (9:00 am in the summer) to check out our adult, youth, and children's Sunday School classes.
  • After Sunday services, all are invited for coffee, punch, and cookies downstairs in Fellowship Hall...a great time to get acquainted!

The Church Office

  • Office hours are Monday - Friday, 8:30 am - 4:30 pm.
  • Our email address is akronfpc@sbcglobal.net.
  • Our fax number is 330-434-5190.

Our Neighborhood

The map below will help you to locate us (near the corner of Buchtel Ave. and E. Market St.).

We usually tell our friends to look for us between Wendy's (to the west) and Burger King (to the east). Yes, we are the "fast food church"!

Here are some pointers for navigating and parking in our neighborhood.

  • There is a one-way driveway on the west (Wendy's) side of the building that leads into our main parking lot. There are special parking spaces for visitors in this lot. Help yourself!
  • Agate is one-way emptying out onto E. Market St. on our east (Burger King) side. Don't try to enter this way!
  • If our main lot is full, you may park in the lower Burger King parking lot, on the east side of the Wendy's parking lot (Sundays only), and in the Bank One parking lot across the street (away from the ATM).

Accessibility

So that all can join us in worship, we have:

  • An elevator from the parking lot level to the sanctuary level.
  • A ramp into the sanctuary on the east side of the building.
  • Handicapped restrooms.
  • Large print bulletins and hearing aid devices in the coatroom to the east of the sanctuary.

Asking for Prayers

There are several ways you can ask for prayer support at First Presbyterian Church.

  • Before the service, you can make prayer requests on cards found at the entrances to the sanctuary. Place your prayer request in the box next to the cards before the service begins, and during greeting time these cards will be placed on the communion table at the front of the sanctuary. During the service, the pastor will make a general prayer for the requests but will not mention individual ones.
  • During the service, individuals are invited to express concerns or joys aloud, and the pastor and the congregation pray about these together.
  • After the service, the Wholeness Ministry is available. In Rooms 205 and 206, lay ministers will meet privately with those who desire private prayer and/or anointing. You can read more about this ministry in the blue brochures in the pew racks.

Nametags

Name tags are available to those who wish to be known to others within our church family. Tags can be found in the narthex (entry area) and returned there following a service or other program. Blank tags are available for visitors to fill in their names, as well as for members of friends who need a temporary tag until a permanent one can be made. A request for a permenent tag may be made on a fellowship card and placed in the offering plate.
