Our Ministries: Elders: Stewardship

We give thee but thine own, what e'er the gift may be...

The following information is provided by the Stewardship Committee to help us prayerfully consider how to return a portion of God's bounty.

Stewardship Basics

Here are the basic stewardship opportunities at First Presbyterian Church:

  • Your pledge to the weekly offering
  • Your per capita and envelope amount (in 2002 these are $18.65 and $2.00 respectively)
  • Contributions to the building fund
  • Participation in special offerings (particularly One Great Hour of Sharing at Easter and the Joy Offering at Christmas).
  • Special contributions such as Deacon's Fund, 2 Cents a Meal, Summer's Best Two Weeks scholarships, etc.

You may also contact the church office to speak to the pastor or a church officer about larger gifts to FPC and estate planning.

Ten Reasons for Personal Stewardship

  1. It is a way of thanking God for all that you have.
  2. You are demonstrating that your are a caring member who believes in First Presbyterian Church.
  3. First Presbyterian Church needs your financial support to help people in our community, in the country, and in the world.
  4. You know it's the right thing to do and that should make you feel good!
  5. You receive a great deal from First Presbyterian Church, and it is a way to say, "Thank You" for what the Church gives you.
  6. The Bible tells us that God expects those who believe in Him to share what they have with others.
  7. It forces you to examine the relative roles of your spiritual life and your material comfort and desires.
  8. You are interested in preserving for future generations our Church, which was built to the Glory of God.
  9. You believe in the ongoing work of the Church and it is unfair to expect others to support the work you believe in without your help.
  10. It is a means of tangibly witnessing your faith to your family and others.
